NEW YORK, June 27 (UPI) -- The Detroit Shock extended their team-record winning streak to eight games Friday night with a 75-69 victory over the undermanned New York Liberty.
Deanna Nolan paced the Shock with 20 points.
Detroit has not lost since dropping its season opener and owns the WNBA's best record, a year after finishing last in the league at 9-23.
Nolan made seven of 10 shots from the field and chipped in four rebounds, four assists and two steals to lead the Shock to their fifth road win. They were a combined 6-26 away from home the previous two seasons.
Nolan made two free throws with just over 16 minutes remaining to put Detroit in front for good, 40-39. Swin Cash scored six of her 17 points during an 11-4 burst that stretched the lead to 58-49 with 7:49 left.
