SAN DIEGO, June 26 (UPI) -- Miguel Ojeda smacked his first major league home run an RBI single Wednesday night as the San Diego Padres edged Colorado, 7-6.
With the victory, the Padres prevented the Rockies from matching their season-high five-game winning streak. The game-winning run scored on a sacrifice fly by Donaldo Mendez.
Luther Hackman (2-1) blew his second save of the season, but recorded all three outs in the top of the seventh to pick up the victory. Rod Beck pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save in as many opportunities. He has not allowed a run in eight of his nine appearances with the Padres.
San Diego took advantage of three Colorado errors to score four runs in the third, opening up a 5-1 lead on Ojeda's three-run homer against Colorado starter Scott Elarton.
The Padres held a 5-2 lead before Matt Herges, Jesse Orosco, and Hackman combined to surrender four runs in the seventh.
