San Antonio 60, Sacramento 57

SACRAMENTO, June 24 (UPI) -- Marie Ferdinand scored 17 points Tuesday night as the San Antonio Silver Stars eased past the Sacramento Monarchs, 60-57.

Margo Dydek added 12 of her 15 in the second half as the Silver Stars finally got their first road win of the WNBA campaign.

San Antonio had lost its first four road games by an average of 16 points, including 93-53 at Seattle on Sunday.

This time, the Silver Stars trailed, 57-56, before Dydek nailed a jumper with 54 seconds left. After Sacramento missed two jumpers on its next possession, Adrienne Goodson sank two free throws with 18 seconds left to extend the lead to 60-57.

Following a timeout, rookie Kara Lawson missed a three-pointer with eight seconds left. The rebound went to teammate Ticha Penicheiro, who also misfired from the arc, allowing San Antonio to escape.

Tangela Smith scored 12 points and Yolanda Griffith added 11 and 11 rebounds for Sacramento, which had a two-game winning streak snapped.
