Jay Williams hurt in crash

CHICAGO, June 20 (UPI) -- Guard Jay Williams of the Chicago Bulls is hospitalized in Chicago after being involved in a motorcycle accident.

Bulls spokesman Tim Hallam said Williams was injured Thursday afternoon and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. The team will not divulge the extent of his injuries, but ESPN reported that he suffered leg and pelvic bone injuries.

"Everyone in the Bulls organization, including (owner) Jerry Reinsdorf, the coaching staff, and Jay's teammates, are hurting for Jay and his family," said General Manager John Paxson in a statement. "The last thing on our minds right now is basketball, and the foremost thought on our minds is that of Jay's health."

Williams, 21, was the second overall pick in last year's NBA Draft. He averaged 9.5 points and 4.7 assists per game in a rocky rookie season in which he sometimes clashed with Coach Bill Cartwright.

He played three seasons at Duke and helped the Blue Devils to the NCAA championship in 2001.
