ADA, Mich., June 20 (UPI) -- Morris Hatalsky fired a bogey-free, 7-under-par 65 Friday to take a one-stroke lead over five golfers at the Egypt Valley Country Club.
The 51-year-old Hatalsky claimed his second Champions Tour title in late May when he defeated Allen Doyle by a stroke at the Columbus Southern Open. The San Diego native became the first player to win an event without a bogey since Bruce Fleisher at the 1999 Transamerica.
Hatalsky extended his bogey-free streak to a Champions Tour-record 98 holes at Columbus. It ended the following week at the Music City Championship.
Hatalsky's round on Friday included an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole and his five birdies birdies included a chip-in from 30 feet on the par-3 eighth hole.
Fleisher, Ed Dougherty, Hubert Green, Tom Wargo and Mike Smith were one stroke back after shooting 66s.
