San Diego 4, Colorado 3 (8 innings, rain)

DENVER, June 18 (UPI) -- Ryan Klesko homered twice and drove in three runs Tuesday night as the San Diego Padres held to beat Colorado, 4-3, in a rain-shortened contest.

Klesko put the Padres up 1-0 in the second with his 14th homer, then padded San Diego's lead with a two-run shot an inning later.

Colorado rallied for single runs in the fourth, seventh, and eighth to draw within 4-3. San Diego starter Jake Peavy (6-5) notched the victory.

Umpires called for a second rain delay in the top of the ninth inning and called the game 90 minutes later. The start of the contest also was delayed 40 minutes by rain.

Colorado southpaw Denny Neagle (0-1), making his first start of the season, pitched six innings, allowing four runs, eight hits, and three home runs.

Brian Buchanan had the other home run for San Diego, which has won three straight for the first time since April 23-25.
