WASHINGTON, June 18 (UPI) -- Yolanda Griffith contributed 22 points and eight rebounds Wednesday night as Sacramento posted just its second victory in seven games, 69-61 over Washington.
Rookie Kara Lawson scored 14 points off the bench and Lady Groom added 13 for Sacramento, which entered the contest with a 1-5 road record.
The Monarchs, who jumped to a 19-6 lead, fell behind for the only time in the contest, 45-44, when Chamique Holdsclaw made a layup and free throw with 11:26 remaining. Ruthie Bolton countered with a jumper with 10:35 to play -- her only points of the game -- to give Sacramento the lead for good and commence an 8-0 run.
Holdsclaw, the Mystics' leading scorer and rebounder, totaled 17 points and 17 rebounds after missing the last four games with a strained right hamstring.
