Boone named NL Player of the Week

NEW YORK, June 16 (UPI) -- Cincinnati Reds third baseman Aaron Boone was named National League Player of the Week Monday for the second time this season.

Boone hit .556 (10-for-18) with a home run, two doubles and seven RBI in five games. In the Reds' 15-1 rout of Philadelphia last Tuesday, Boone went 3-for-3 with a season-high four RBI.

Boone previously won the award for the week of May 5-11.

Honorable mention for this week's honors went to the six Houston Astros pitchers who combined to throw a no-hitter at Yankee Stadium last Wednesday. Roy Oswalt, Pete Munro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel and Billy Wagner broke the previous record of four pitchers used in a no-hitter.
