TORONTO, June 13 (UPI) -- Toronto won its fifth straight game Friday, defeating the Chicago Cubs 5-1 behind Kelvim Escobar.

Escobar (4-3) was often in trouble but managed to keep the Cubs scoreless until giving up a run-scoring double to Tom Goodwin in the ninth inning. Aquilino Lopez then got the final two outs.

Chris Woodward, Reed Johnson and Greg Myers all hit solo home runs for the Blue Jays.

Kerry Wood (5-5) was the losing pitcher.
