Los Angeles 3, Detroit 1

DETROIT, June 11 (UPI) -- Kevin Brown won his eighth straight game as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat Detroit 3-1 Wednesday night.

It was the sixth loss in a row for Detroit.

Brown became the first nine-game winner in the National League, allowing one run and five hits.

The Dodgers went ahead for good in the fourth when Paul Lo Duca scored the tying run on Shawn Green's sacrifice fly and Brian Jordan came home on Fred McGriff's single.

Eric Gagne recorded his 31st straight save.
