Clijsters to battle Henin-Hardenne

PARIS, June 6 (UPI) -- Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne have one thing in common.

They both want to win their first career major on Saturday at the French Open and become the first Grand Slam champion from Belgium.

Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne have bridged the gap in an increasingly divided country by advancing to the championship match at Roland Garros.

The fourth-seeded Henin-Hardenne took out the best player in tennis, world No. 1 Serena Williams, who had won the last four Grand Slams, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, Thursday to advance to her second career major final. She was runner-up to Venus Williams in the championship match at Wimbledon in 2001.

Clijsters, who will celebrate her 20th birthday on Sunday, has for the most part cruised through to her second career Grand Slam title match.
