Just three days after going to overtime in a 1-1 tie with Kansas City, the Revolution came out strong. They grabbed the lead in the 18th minute when Twellman headed in a rebound of Joe-Max Moore's shot.

Chicago had two chances to tie, but Evan Whitfield fired a wide-open shot over the net in the 27th minute and goalkeeper Adin Brown denied Rodrigo Faria on a header in the box in the 43rd minute.

New England doubled its lead in the 49th minute. An unmarked Heaps got a corner from Joe Franchino and one-timed a shot that floated over goalkeeper Zach Thornton for his first goal of the season.

Seven minutes later, a through pass from Shalrie Joseph found Ralston at the top of the penalty area. He one-timed a right-footed blast into the top left corner of the net.
