Oakland 3; Chi. White Sox 2

CHICAGO, April 30 (UPI) -- Barry Zito allowed four hits in seven innings and Chris Singleton tripled and drove in two runs Tuesday night as Oakland edged the Chicago White Sox, 3-2.

Zito (4-2) allowed two runs, one earned, and three walks. He struck out three and ran his lifetime winning percentage to .729 (51-19), the highest of any pitcher ever with 70 decisions.

After Chad Bradford worked around a leadoff double in the eighth, former Chicago closer Keith Foulke came on and struck out one in a perfect ninth. Foulke notched his seventh save of the season.

Singleton, who also spent time with the White Sox, was the key player on offense. He had an RBI triple in the fifth, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mark Ellis. In the seventh, his RBI single plated Eric Byrnes with the go-ahead run.

Chicago starter Bartolo Colon (2-2) allowed three runs and six hits in eight innings. He walked two and struck out five.
