Philadelphia 3; Los Angeles 0

LOS ANGELES, April 29 (UPI) -- A day after Kevin Millwood pitched Phildelphia's first no-hitter in 12 years, Brett Myers dominated Los Angeles in a 3-0 win at Los Angeles.

Myers (2-2) held the Dodgers to six hits over 7 2/3 innings, did not walk a batter, and struck out four, throwing just 86 pitches. That was good enough to outduel Darren Dreifort (1-3), who allowed two runs and six hits while striking out 11 in seven innings.

Myers left after allowing two-out singles to Alex Cora and Paul Lo Duca, but Dan Plesac got Shawn Green to ground into an inning-ending fielder's choice.

After the Phillies tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth on back-to-back doubles by Mike Lieberthal and David Bell, Jose Mesa pitched the bottom half for his sixth save.

Jim Thome was the only Phillie to really solve Dreifort when he slugged a high fastball into the bleachers in left field for his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot that gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Thome has homered in two of the last three games, matching his total for the first 22 games.

Dreifort created problems for himself in the first when he fielded a potential double play grounder by Pat Burrell and threw the ball into center field. Jimmy Rollins, who led off with a double, scored to put the Phillies on the board.

Myers escaped trouble in the third after he gave up back-to-back singles to Jolbert Cabrera and Cesar Izturis. Dreifort sacrificed both runners into scoring position, but after Cora was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Lo Duca bounced into a double play.
