San Francisco 7, Philadelphia 4

PHILADELPHIA, April 25 (UPI) -- Left fielder Pat Burrell's error in the top of the eighth inning allowed three runs to score Friday night as the San Francisco Giants downed the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-4.

With two outs and the bases loaded in a 2-2 game, Phillies Manager Larry Bowa replaced starter Vicente Padilla (3-2) with Dan Plesac.

Plesac got J.T. Snow to hit his first pitch into shallow left field. Burrell called off shortstop Jimmy Rollins near the foul line, but dropped the ball, which rolled behind him as three runners circled the bases.

Terry Adams relieved Plesac, but surrendered a two-run homer to Marquis Grissom that made it 7-2.

Joe Nathan tossed a scoreless seventh to record the win. The Giants are trying to capture their eighth straight series.

San Francisco starter Kurt Ainsworth yielded two runs and eight hits in six innings.

Scott Eyre gave up a two-run homer to Bobby Abreu in the bottom of the ninth.
