METARIE, La., April 25 (UPI) -- The New Orleans Saints announced Friday they had re-signed defensive end-tackle Willie Whitehead to a three-year contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Whitehead started 10 games at left end last season, his fourth with the Saints, and had a career-high 41 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery.
"Willie is a guy we targeted to re-sign from the start of free agency because of his versatility and production," Saints Coach Jim Haslett said. "He started 10 games for us last year and has always been extremely productive when he is on the field. And his ability to play two positions makes him a very important part of our defensive front."
