Eric Hinske got Toronto on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run double off Kennedy and the Blue Jays added another run two batters later on Dave Berg's RBI single.

But the Devil Rays got back all three runs in the bottom of the frame against Blue Jays starter Pete Walker. George Lombard, Marlon Anderson and rookie Rocco Baldelli all had RBI singles in the rally.

Walker pitched five innings allowing three runs and nine hits. Jason Kershner (0-1) pitched a scoreless sixth, but could not record an out in the seventh, facing two batters before Jeff Tam came on and surrendered the pivotal hit to Hall.
