LOS ANGELES, April 18 (UPI) -- A three-run homer by Todd Hundley in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday night gave the Los Angeles Dodgers a 4-3 win over San Diego.
Hundley's homer came after a two-out, RBI single by Daryle Ward has given the Dodgers their first run of the night.
San Diego starter Adam Eaton tossed six scoreless innings, and former Dodger Matt Herges worked a hitless seventh, but Jesse Orosco, who also spent time with Los Angeles, and Jaret Wright (1-2) struggled in the eighth, giving up the lead.
Pinch hitters for the Dodgers had just one hit this season when Ward, hitting for Joey Cora, singled off Wright's glove to plate Shawn Green and draw the Dodgers within 3-1. Hundley, batting for Cesar Izturis, then drilled a 2-1 pitch over the wall in right-center field to give Los Angeles a 4-3 lead.
Troy Brohawn (1-0) picked up the win with a scoreless eighth inning, and Eric Gagne struck out one in a perfect ninth to notch his fourth save.
