Atlanta 14, Montreal 8 (10 inn.)

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 17 (UPI) -- Javier Lopez capped a six-run 10th inning with a grand slam and finished with a career-high six RBI Thursday as the Atlanta Braves completed a three-game sweep of the Montreal Expos, 14-8.

A native of Ponce, a little over an hour from San Juan, Lopez played in front of many family and friends but went hitless in the first two games of the series.

Lopez atoned for the first two games in a big way. He hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning off Luis Ayala before connecting off Rocky Biddle (1-1) in extra innings. It was his seventh career grand slam.

It was the 13th career mulit-homer game for Lopez, who entered Thursday's game with just one homer and two RBI in his first 12 contests this season.

Marcus Giles, who won Tuesday's series opener with a solo homer in extra innings, snapped an 8-8 tie in the 10th with a double off the left field wall.

Jung Bong (1-0) worked a perfect inning with two strikeouts for the win.
