Milwaukee owned a 2-0 lead in the second inning with one out and a runner on second when Clayton drove a 3-2 pitch from Garrett Stephenson (1-1) over the right-center field wall.

Sexson led off the third inning with his fourth homer and increased Milwaukee's lead to 5-0.

The St. Louis offense was dormant without Albert Pujols, who sat out after being hit by a pitch on his right thumb on Monday.

The Cardinals got their lone run on Eduardo Perez's solo shot in the seventh and had their three-game winning streak snapped.
