Baltimore 4, Cleveland 3

CLEVELAND, April 16 (UPI) -- Melvin Mora's leadoff homer in the ninth inning Wednesday night lifted the Baltimore Orioles to a 4-3, come-from-behind victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Mora belted a 2-1 pitch from Danys Baez (0-1) over the left field wall to break the deadlock and help the Orioles win for just the third time in their last 19 games at Jacobs Field.

David Segui singled home a run with one out in the eighth to reduce Baltimore's deficit to 3-2. Baez later walked Tony Batista with the bases loaded, allowing Gary Matthews Jr to score and tie the game at 3-3. It was the first blow save of the season for Baez.

Buddy Groom (1-0) struck out two in 1 2/3 hitless innings before Orioles closer Jorge Julio recorded the final out for his second save.

Milton Bradley led off the bottom of the first with a single to left field and extended his hitting streak to a career-high 14 games. The last Cleveland player to open a season with a hit in 14 straight was Toby Harrah in 1982.
