Philadelphia 16, Pittsburgh 1

PHILADELPHIA, April 5 (UPI) -- Jimmy Rollins had five hits, including three doubles, scored four runs and drove in three while Bobby Abreu and Mike Lieberthal homered Saturday as the Phillies overcame the loss of Kevin Milwood to crush the Pittsburgh Pirates, 16-1.

Five Phillies had multi-hit games and five drove in at least two runs as they avenged a loss Friday in the final home opener in the history of Veterans Stadium. And the Phillies did it without Millwood, who left after three innings due to a strained right groin.

The veteran righthander, who was acquired in the offseason to bolster an inexperienced rotation, allowed a run and six hits before leaving.

Carlos Silva (1-0) followed Millwood and surrendered three hits in 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Dan Plesac tossed 1 1/3 hitless innings before Terry Adams and Jose Mesa worked an inning apiece.

Pittsburgh starter Jeff D'Amico (0-1) was tagged for six runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. Each of the Pirates' four pitchers surrendered at least three runs.
