Chi. Cubs 9, Cincinnati 7

CINCINNATI, April 5 (UPI) -- Paul Bako had a career-high six RBI Saturday and his three-run triple was made possible by an injury to Ken Griffey Jr. as the Chicago Cubs downed the Cincinnati Reds, 9-7.

With the bases loaded in the eighth inning and Chicago holding a 6-5 lead, Bako lined Josias Manzanillo's 0-1 pitch into the left-center field gap. The ball was just out of the reach of Griffey, who lunged and landed hard on his right shoulder.

Griffey was helped off the field and had his shoulder popped back into place before being taken to a local hospital.

Bako also matched a career high with four hits.

Carlos Zambrano (1-0) allowed three runs and three hits in 5 2/3 innings for the win. Joe Borowski, Chicago's fifth pitcher, struck out one in a perfect ninth for his first save.

Jimmy Haynes (0-2) was reached for five runs and seven hits in four innings.

Adam Dunn homered twice for Cincinnati, which has allowed 42 runs and lost four of five games in its new stadium.
