Tim Connolly suspended by NHL

NEW YORK, April 3 (UPI) -- Buffalo Sabres center Tim Connolly's season ended prematurely Thursday when he was suspended four games without pay by the NHL.

Connolly, who will forfeit $25,056, high-sticked Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Garnet Exelby early in the second period of Wednesday's 4-3 victory and received a minor penalty.

As well as missing the final two games of the season, Connolly will sit out the first two contests of the 2003-04 campaign.

In 80 games, the 21-year-old Connolly had 12 goals and 13 assists with 32 penalty minutes and a team-worst minus-28 rating.
