Vancouver 5, Phoenix 1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 28 (UPI) -- Markus Naslund picked up an assist to reach the 100-point mark for the first time in his career and the Vancouver Canucks hit the 100-point plateau for the second time in team history Thursday night with a 5-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.

Vancouver's captain, Naslund padded his NHL scoring lead when he set up a power-play goal by defenseman Ed Jovanovski with 5:38 to go in the third period. Moments later, the crowd at GM Place began chanting "MVP, MVP."

Naslund became the first Canuck to record 100 points in a season since Alexander Mogilny in 1995-96.

With 101 points, Vancouver tied the team record set in 1992-93. It also maintained a four-point lead over second-place Colorado in the Northwest Division with four games to play.

Jovanovski and Daniel Sedin each had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who bounced back from Tuesday's loss to Dallas and completed a 3-1-0 homestand. They also climbed within two points of the Stars for the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
