Anaheim 4, Chicago 3

CHICAGO, March 19 (UPI) -- Paul Kariya scored a milestone goal midway through the third period to forge a tie and Samuel Pahlsson netted the game-winner with 3 1/2 minutes remaining Wednesday night as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim edged the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-3.

Anaheim recorded its 36th win of the season and reached 85 points, tying franchise bests set in the club's inaugural campaign of 1993-94.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned aside 39 shots for his 31st win, equaling the club record set by Guy Hebert in 1998-99.

With Chicago leading, 3-2, and owning a 54

9-1 mark in its last 64 games when leading after two periods, things did not look promising for the Ducks.

But Kariya scored his 300th career goal while on a power play to knot the game before Pahlsson put Anaheim ahead with his fourth of the season.

Petr Sykora and rookie Stanislav Chistov also tallied for the Ducks, who completed a sweep of the four-game season series with Chicago and remained even with Minnesota for sixth place in the Western Conference.

Chris Simon, Theo Fleury and Steve Sullivan scored for the Blackhawks, whose winless skid against Anaheim reached five games (0-4-1).
