The Falcons were seeking a right corner to replace Ashley Ambrose, who was cut last month for salary cap purposes. Ironically, Atlanta signed Williams, who was also waived for salary cap reasons.

Williams, 29, was to count for more than $7 million on the cap in 2003 before he was released.

Atlanta has been active in the free agent market and previously bolstered the secondary with the additin of safety Cory Hall.

A third-round pick in 1996 out of Nebraska, Williams became a full-time starter in his second season and has 19 interceptions and 92 passes defended in 111 career games.
