Tampa Bay 4, Los Angeles 2

TAMPA, Fla., March 12 (UPI) -- Ruslan Fedotenko scored with 2:49 remaining to snap a tie Wednesday night and the Tampa Bay Lightning posted their sixth win in eight games, 4-2 over the Los Angeles Kings.

Just two points ahead of seventh-place Boston in the Eastern Conference, the Lightning grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second period, then watched it disappear when Ian Laperriere tallied midway through the third.

Tampa Bay would not be denied, however. Vincent Lecavalier's shot from the top of the left faceoff circle was deflected to Fedotenko, who drifted in alone and put a quick wrist shot past goaltender Jamie Storr for his 15th goal.

Lecavalier, defenseman Cory Sarich and Vaclav Prospal also tallied for the Lightning, who moved within a point of first-place Washington in the Southeast Division.

Rookie Alexander Frolov scored the other goal for Los Angeles, which has lost four of its last five games and remained 10 points behind Edmonton for the final playoff berth in the West.
