BUFFALO, N.Y., March 12 (UPI) -- A goal by Craig Adams with 69 seconds left in overtime Wednesday night gave goaltender Patrick DesRochers his first win as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes, who rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
Adams carried across the Buffalo blue line and moved down low before wristing a shot from the left side past goaltender Martin Biron for his sixth goal of the season and third in two games.
Recalled from Lowell of the American Hockey League on Tuesday, DesRochers made 22 of his 32 saves over the final 44 minutes.
Radim Vrbata, who was acquired from Colorado at Tuesday's trade deadline, made an immediate impact by lifting the Hurricanes into a 2-2 tie with 10 seconds left in regulation.
Vrbata was unchecked at the left side of the crease, got a pass from Ron Francis and put a high shot by Biron for his 12th goal.
Francis got Carolina on the board 20 seconds into the middle period.
Carolina stretched its winning streak to a season-high four games and ended Buffalo's three-game unbeaten run. Sabres Coach Lindy Ruff remained tied with Hall of Famer Scotty Bowman for the team record with 210 wins.
