KISSIMMEE, Fla., March 12 (UPI) -- Jason Marquis pitched four innings and added a two-run single Wednesday as the Atlanta Braves edged the Houston Astros, 9-8.

Marquis allowed two runs and four hits to earn the win and capped a three-run seventh inning with his hit off loser Pete Munro.

The Braves overcame a shaky outing from Mike Hampton, who was tagged for six runs and seven hits in four innings. One of the hits was a grand slam by Craig Biggio that highlighted a five-run third inning.

Houston starter Wade Miller also had his troubles, allowing six runs and six hits in three innings.

Andruw Jones, Robert Fick and Javier Lopez also drove in a pair of runs for the Braves.
