ORLANDO, Fla., March 11 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux pitched four perfect innings and the Atlanta Braves scored four times in the eighth inning Tuesday to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-3.

The four-time Cy Young Award winner retired all 12 batters he faced and struck out three. Five relievers each pitched one inning for the Braves, with Matt Belisle working a scoreless eighth for the win.


Ryan Langerhans snapped a 1-1 tie in the eighth with an RBI single off loser Pedro Borbon. Donzell McDonald added an RBI double and Mike Hessman capped the inning with a two-run single.

Darren Bragg accounted for the other Atlanta run with a home run in the seventh.

Los Angeles starter Odalis Perez pitched four scoreless innings.

Jared Price had a two-run double in the ninth for Los Angeles.
