PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., March 10 (UPI) -- Jeromy Burnitz's seventh-inning sacrifice fly scored Ty Wigginton with the go-ahead run Monday as the New York Mets edged the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-1.
Mets starter Steve Trachsel allowed an unearned run and three hits in four innings and David Cone followed with two hitless innings in relief. Armando Benitez struck out three around a base hit in the ninth.

Jorge Velandia homered in the fifth to account for the Mets other run.
Dodgers starter Wilson Alvarez allowed a run and three hits in five innings.
Alex Cora drove in Jolbert Cabrera with Los Angeles' lone run. The Dodgers managed just five hits and drew only one walk.
