Lietzke shares Senior lead

MEXICO CITY, March 8 (UPI) -- Defending champion Bruce Lietzke triple-bogeyed the final hole Saturday, dropping him into a tie for the lead with Tom Jenkins and Eamonn Darcy of Ireland after the second round of the MasterCard Classic.

Lietzke had seven birdies over 17 bogey-free holes before dropping three strokes at the par-5 18th. His 4-under-par 68 gave him a share of the lead at 9-under 135.

Jenkins had eight birdies and a bogey en route to a 65, matching Tom Kite for the low round of the day. Darcy had five birdies and a bogey at No. 18 for a 68 in his second round on the Champions Tour.

Kite and Isao Aoki of Japan were tied for fourth at 7-under 137, a stroke better than Steven Veriato and two ahead of a group of five players that included Hale Irwin.

Allen Doyle led after carding an opening-round 65, but struggled to a 75 Saturday and was tied for 12th, 10 strokes off the pace.
