CHICAGO, March 6 (UPI) -- Sam Hoskin scored 19 points and Drake Diener had four of his nine in the final 20 seconds Wednesday night as DePaul stunned Louisville, 79-76, in overtime.
In the victory, the Blue Demons snapped a 13-game losing streak to the Cardinals.
The Blue Demons had not beaten Cardinals since Feb. 25, 1995, going without a win in the first 13 Conference USA games between the teams. They snapped that skid, and beat Louisville Coach Rick Pitino for the first time in four tries.
Hoskin buried two free throws with no time remaining to force the extra session. The game was tied at 75-75 before Diener buried a three-pointer with 18 seconds remaining.
"I really didn't think too much," Hoskin said. "I just knew that I would knock them down and then we would go into overtime and we would have to win the game there."
"Sam set me a screen up top and somehow both of their guys left me wide open at the top," Diener said. "So I just took my shot and knocked it down. (But) that's a shot that I expect to hit."
Louisville's Reece Gaines made 1-of-2 free throws and Diener was fouled on the rebound before making 1-of-2 from the line with 1.3 seconds left to seal the win.
"We played our (butt) off and we played as hard as we could possibly play, but we got dominated on the glass and we didn't make the right defensive situations at the end of the game," Pitino said. "(DePaul) played great and outwhooped us on the backboard."
Andre Brown scored 16 points and Delonte Holland added 14 for DePaul (15-11, 7-8 C-USA American), which snapped a three-game losing streak.
Freshman Taquan Dean scored 16 points as Louisville (29-6, 10-5) lost for the fourth time in five games.
Gaines and Brown finished with 15 points apiece for the Cardinals, who shot just 42 percent (28-of-66) from the floor, including 9-of-31 from three-point range.
