Seattle 6, Milwaukee 3

PEORIA, Ariz., March 4 (UPI) -- John Olerud homered as part of a four-run third inning Tuesday as the Seattle Mariners posted a 6-3 Cactus League victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Olerud hit a three-run shot off former New York Mets teammate Dave Mlicki. The Seattle first baseman was 2-for-2 with four RBI. Mlicki suffered his second loss in as many spring decisions, allowing five runs and seven hits in three innings.

Gil Meche, who last pitched in the major leagues in 2000, started for Seattle and picked up the win. The righthander sandwiched a pair of scoreless innings around a two-run second inning.

Pat Borders had three doubles for the Mariners.
