DUNEDIN, Fla., March 2 (UPI) -- Mike Colangelo's solo shot keyed a three-run seventh and Corey Lidle tossed two hitless innings Sunday as the Toronto Blue Jays edged the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-6.
The contest was tied at 5-5 and there was one out in the seventh when Colangelo, who replaced left fielder Shannon Stewart, belted his first home run of the spring.
With two outs, backup catcher Kevin Cash and reserve first baseman Tom Wilson stroked consecutive doubles to give the Blue Jays a two-run cushion. Alexis Rios singled home Wilson to make it 8-5.
Lidle, the Blue Jays starter who was acquired from Oakland in the offseason, required only 14 pitches to get through the Phillies' first six batters.
Greg Myers doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs, and Jayson Werth had a solo shot as Toronto grabbed a 5-1 lead after three.
Philadelphia starter Randy Wolf was reached for five runs and four hits in just 2 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking three.
But Dave Hollins' three-run shot in the fourth helped the Phillies knot the contest after six.
