Sullivan had just four points in his previous 20 games but also picked up assists on goals by defenseman Nathan Dempsey in the first period and Alex Zhamnov and Eric Daze in the second.

Steve Passmore stopped 30 shots and allowed just a shorthanded goal by Mike Sillinger for his first win of the season.

Chicago's Mark Bell shoved in a rebound from the left side of the crease to start the scoring midway through the opening period, giving him three goals and three assists during a career-best six-game points streak.

Dempsey made it 2-0 seven minutes later, beating goaltender Marc Denis with a slap shot from the high slot.

Zhamnov ended a seven-game drought with his 10th goal, sparking Chicago's three-goal second period.

Just 58 seconds after Sillinger got the Blue Jackets on the board, Daze tipped defenseman Alexander Karpovtsev's right point shot past Denis for his 13th goal. Defenseman Jon Klemm added his first goal since October 13 with just one second left on a power play to make it 5-1.

Denis was replaced by Jean-Francois Labbe after surrendering five goals on 19 shots.

The loss snapped Columbus' team-record six-game home unbeaten streak.
