Colorado 1, Detroit 0

DETROIT, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Patrick Roy stopped 28 shots for his third shutout of the season -- all in the last two weeks -- and Alex Tanguay scored the lone goal Thursday night as the Colorado Avalanche blanked the Red Wings, 1-0, to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games.

Brett Hull's scoring drought reached six games as he tries to join Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito and Mike Gartner as the only 700-goal scorers in NHL history.

The Red Wings' fortunes have mirrored those of the outspoken Hull. This was the defending Stanley Cup champions' second 1-0 loss during a season-long, five-game winless streak (0-3-2).

Colorado is headed in the opposite direction. Since a 4-2 loss to Detroit on Jan. 16, the Avalanche are 5

2 and have climbed within eight points of first-place Vancouver in the Northwest Division.
