Kentucky 70, Florida 55

LEXINGTON, Ky., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Keith Bogans scored 15 points and Gerald Fitch added 14 Tuesday as the seventh-ranked Kentucky Wildcats administered a 70-55 Southeastern Conference whipping to the nationally top-ranked Florida Gators, who had a 14-game winning streak snapped.

Kentucky (17-3, 7-0 SEC East) took over first place in the East Division with its 11th straight victory. The Wildcats have won their last six games by an average of more than 17 points.

A 15-0 run by Kentucky helped open up a 43-20 advantage with 45 seconds left in the first half on a dunk by Chuck Hayes. That jam came after Cliff Hawkins had a steal and a layup and Bogans threw home a resounding two-handed slam.

Florida (18-3, 7-1) shot just 20 percent (6-of-30) in the first half and was 2-of-9 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes. The Gators' 22 points at halftime was their lowest total of the season.

The Wildcats made sure there was no hope of a comeback by taking advantage of more sloppy play by the Gators. Erik Daniels dunked off a fast break and Antwain Barbour added a two-handed reverse jam for a 60-31 cushion with 12:49 remaining.
