Battling with defenseman Chris Phillips at the top of the crease, Rucchin watched defenseman a slap shot by Niclas Havelid from the right point hit his skate and deflect past goaltender Patrick Lalime at 14:48 of the third.

Paul Kariya and Adam Oates also scored, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned aside 25 shots for the Ducks, whose last win over Ottawa came on March 22, 1998.

Mike Fisher and Todd White tallied for the Senators, who have lost two in a row and remained four points ahead of New Jersey in the East.
