Calgary 4, Detroit 1

CALGARY, Alberta, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla scored his team-leading 15th goal and Roman Turek made 27 saves as the Calgary Flames skated to a 4-1 victory Saturday night over the Detroit Red Wings.

Coming off a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Phoenix in which injury was added to insult when coach Darryl Sutter was hit in the face with a puck, the Flames took an early lead on Rob Niedermayer's fifth goal.

Martin Gelinas and Detroit defenseman Mathieu Dandenault traded tallies in the second before Iginla gave Calgary a two-goal cushion with a controversial tally late in the period.

From the bottom of the left faceoff circle, the reigning Art Ross Trophy winner fired a shot with 32 seconds remaining that sneaked between the pads of goaltender Curtis Joseph. As the puck trickled toward the goal line, Pavel Datsyuk swept it away before it could cross completely.

Referee Don Koharski immediately waved off the play but was overruled by the video replay official.

Turek withstood a second-period barrage by the Red Wings, stopping 14 of 15 shots en route to his third win in four decisions.

Dave Lowry added an empty-netter for Calgary, which snapped a three-game losing streak against Detroit while winning its eighth in the last 10 home meetings with the defending Stanley Cup champions.
