Frazar takes 54-hole lead

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Harrison Frazar carded a 4-under-par 67 Saturday to seize a one-shot lead over Tim Petrovic and John Huston after the third round of the Phoenix Open.

Frazar, who has had at least a share of the lead following each round, had six birdies and two bogeys at the TPC of Scottsdale to reach 17-under 196. He took the lead with an eight-foot birdie putt at the short, par-4 17th.

Petrovic fell a shot off the pace after shooting a bogey-free 68. He had earned a share of the lead Friday with a career-best 63. Petrovic and Huston, who shot a 66, stood at 16-under 197 for 54 holes.

Eleven players were within four shots of the lead, including Vijay Singh of Fiji, South African Retief Goosen and Kirk Triplett, who shared fourth at 198.

David Toms led a group of four players three strokes off the pace at 199. Chris DiMarco and Mark Calcavecchia were among those at 200.
