ANAHEIM, Calif., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Jussi Markkanen made 32 saves Wednesday night as Edmonton eased past Anaheim, 1-0.

Mike York scored his 14th goal in the win over the struggling Mighty Ducks.

After being taken to overtime in three consecutive games and eight of the previous 12, Edmonton gained its first road victory since Dec. 8 on a second-period tally by York.

Markkanen made 10 saves in each of the first two periods before turning aside 12 shots in the third on the way to his second shutout of the season and the fourth of his career.

In three career appearances against Anaheim, including a scoreless 48-minute relief appearance, the 27-year-old Finn is 3


0 with two shutouts.

Martin Gerber stopped 20 shots for the Ducks, who were blanked for the fourth time this season and second in the last three contests. Anaheim has scored just twice in its last four games and is 0-6-1 in the last seven.
