TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Florida State junior Anquan Boldin, who led the Seminoles in receptions and receiving yards last season, Wednesday announced he will give up his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft.
Boldin caught 65 passes for 1,011 yards and an Atlantic Coast Conference-best 13 touchdowns. He took some snaps at quarterback in the Seminoles' 26-13 loss to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
"It was a decision that my family and I made after talking about it," Boldin said. "It came down to the pros and cons and what was the best decision for me. I had a great experience at Florida State and I loved playing for coach (Bobby) Bowden. But the time has come for me to move on."
Boldin is the first Florida State underclassman to declare for the draft since kicker Sebastian Janikowski following the 1999 season.
"I talked to him about it and after talking for a while, I felt like he made the right decision," Bowden said. "I wish him the very best. He has been an inspiration for our football team."
Bowden got some good news Wednesday as junior linebacker Michael Boulware announced he will return for his senior year.
