Maryland 101, UMBC 60

COLLEGE PARK, Md., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Ryan Randle scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds Monday night as 23rd-ranked Maryland returned from a nine-day exam break and routed Maryland-Baltimore County, 101-60.

Drew Nicholas added 15 points and seven assists and Jamar Smith contibuted 12 points for Maryland (5-3), which bounced back after its 87-game non-conference home winning streak was snapped by Florida on Dec. 14.

The Terrapins have not had a home loss to a school outside the Atlantic Coast Conference since Dec. 12, 1989, and they had little trouble improving to 13-0 all-time against UMBC.

P.J. Hatcher scored 15 points and Justin Wilson chipped in 14 for the Retrievers (3-4), who have lost four straight after starting the season with three wins.
