NY Islanders 2, Detroit 2 (OT)

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Manny Legace returned from an injury and made 23 saves in relief of Curtis Joseph, and Luc Robitaille got the tying goal Tuesday night as the Detroit Red Wings rallied for a 2-2 tie against the New York Islanders.

Joseph allowed two goals on 11 shots in the opening period and was replaced by Legace at the start of the second. Legace had not dressed for previous four games due to a knee injury.

Though the Islanders increased their streak of killing penalties to 29 straight, the Red Wings battled back from a 2-0 deficit.

After Igor Larionov tallied his second of the year at 10:50 of the second, Robitaille jammed home his fourth of the campaign with just over 13 minutes remaining in regulation to make it 2-2.

Sergei Federov assisted on Robitaille's goal for his 900th NHL point.

Chris Osgood -- a former Red Wing -- made two of his 34 saves during the extra session, but the Islanders' winless streak grew to four games (0-2-2).
