OMAHA, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Brody Deren scored 14 points and Kellen Miliner added 11 to pick up the slack for a struggling Kyle Korver as the 19th-ranked Creighton Bluejays remained unbeaten with a 68-48 victory Monday night over Delaware State.
Creighton (8-0) improved to 5-0 at home and has opened a season with eight straight wins for the ninth time. It is off to the best start since going 9-0 in the 1999-2000 season.
Korver, the preseason Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, missed his first four shots and had just three points in the first half and seven for the game. It was just the second time he was held below double figures after entering the game averaging a team-leading 18.2 points.
Delaware State (2-5) built an early 8-2 lead before Creighton used a 23-9 run in which Mike Grimes scored six points to take control. The Bluejays settled for a 31-25 halftime lead.
Miliner sank a pair of 3-pointers as Creighton opened the second half on a 21-8 tear for a 52-33 cushion. Michael Lindeman, Tyler McKinney and DeAnthony Bowden all nailed 3-pointers in the spurt.
