New Jersey 5, St. Louis 4 (OT)

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur made a handful of stellar saves in overtime before Jeff Friesen scored with 12 seconds remaining Saturday night as the New Jersey Devils continued a successful road trip with a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

In a game full of spectacular plays, Brodeur came up big when it mattered. He made just nine saves in regulation but stopped all five shots in overtime. With 3:45 to play, he stopped a point-blank backhander by Cory Stillman. Less than a minute later, he sprawled to deny Stillman on a two on one, then lunged and got his glove on a deflection.

Friesen continued his resurgence with his first game-winner in a Devils' uniform. Fred Brathwaite got his left pad on a shot by Joe Nieuwendyk, but Friesen gathered the rebound and faked a shot to send the goaltender to the ice before backhanding the puck into an empty net.

Scott Gomez, Brian Gionta and defenseman Scott Niedermayer each had a goal and an assist for New Jersey, which improved to 2

0-1 on a four-game road trip that concludes Monday night in Philadelphia.
