Bears place rookie tackle on IR

LAKE FOREST, Ill., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears placed rookie offensive tackle Marc Colombo on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season.

The 29th overall pick in the 2002 draft, Colombo suffered a dislocated tendon in his left knee in a Nov. 18 game at St. Louis. He underwent arthroscopic surgery last week.

Colombo, who held out in training camp, had been starting at left tackle before getting injured.

The Bears made a move to fill Colombo's spot along the line, signing 6-6, 390-pound tackle Aaron Gibson, who was released by Dallas in early September. A 1999 first-round pick of Detroit, Gibson has been ineffective since his rookie campaign due to weight problems.
