Oregon St. 45, Oregon 24

CORVALLIS, Ore., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Derek Anderson passed for 370 yards and four touchdowns and Steven Jackson ran for 153 yards and two scores Saturday as Oregon State pulled away from the rival Oregon Ducks, 45-24.

It was the fifth loss in six games for Oregon (7-5, 3-5 Pac-10 Conference), which was ranked sixth in the country after improving to 6-0 with a 31-30 triumph at UCLA on Oct. 12.

The Ducks once again played without star running back Onterrio Smith, who suffered a slight cartilage tear in his left knee against USC on Oct. 26 and has played in just one of Oregon's last four contests.

Anderson, who was 21 of 37 without an interception, snapped a 17-17 tie with a 10-yard pass to Shawn Kintner with 28 seconds left in the second quarter. He threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Farley midway through the third quarter and Jackson added a one-yard scoring run to open up a 38-17 advantage with 1:04 to play in the period.

James Newson had 11 receptions for 168 yards and one touchdown for Oregon State (8-4, 4-4), which has won four of its last five contests following a three-game losing streak.

Keenan Howry had four catches for 142 yards and one touchdown and returned a punt 63 yards for a score for the Ducks, but quarterback Jason Fife struggled, completing just 14 of 33 attempts for 182 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

The home team has won the last six games in the series, which the Ducks lead, 53-43-10.
